Jacobs Strategic Solutions Group provided centralized scientific user support for Mac and PC desktops for: LAN application availability, reliability, security, and interconnectivity; Mainframe communication, inventory control, instrument control systems, migrations, documentation, evaluations; Support and training for video teleconference, equipment, services, and software; and NHLBI intranet and web development. Equipment installation and configuration: We support approximately 1,600 end users and 1,500 desktops/workstations (10% Mac; 90% Windows) across 18 Intramural branches and 15 Extramural center/branches across the Bethesda/Rockville, Maryland NIH campus. The staff supports and installs PC images using Symantec Ghost Enterprise edition. The Web staff operates and maintains MS Windows Servers (4 production, 4 backup), web servers (3 production, 3 backups), database servers (2 production, 2 backup), and one SharePoint server that is currently being tested. Also provide business process analysis, engineering and architecture as well as project management.
