As the program manager for the Western Health Information Network - one of the largest regional networks participating in NHIN - SRA helped recruit healthcare organizations into NHIN and played an integral role in planning for the demonstration, including coordinating the preparatory meetings, developing communications materials for the participating audience and the general public, and generally overseeing LBNH's involvement in the demo. The audience included the general public as well officials from the Department of Defense, the Department of Veteran's Affairs, the Social Security Administration, and the American Health Information Community - the federal advisory panel that made recommendations to HHS on how to accelerate the development and adoption of health information technology. The demonstration - which showed how a healthcare provider could locate, retrieve and review patient information from another provider's network as well as how patients could opt out of having their records shared - was deemed a great success by everyone involved.
